Holo grows up in the remote Hage Village church under the care of Father Orsi and Sister Lily. As one of the younger orphans, he lives alongside Asta and Yuno, looking up to them as older brothers. He is energetic and often seen playing with the other children, Aruru and Nash, while possessing Lightning Magic that he is still learning to control.

During the Elf Reincarnation arc, Holo faces a life-threatening situation when a possessed Magic Knight attacks their home. The attacker surrounds the church with poisonous plants, trapping Holo and his siblings. Terrified and unable to defend himself, he cowers with the other children until Asta returns to the village and saves them using his Anti-Magic swords.

In the final arc of the series, Holo witnesses a tragedy when Lucius Zogratis arrives at the church. He watches in shock as Sister Lily is forcibly turned into a Paladin and attacks her own family. Despite the destruction of his home, Holo survives the assault and stays behind to help care for the injured Father Orsi.
