During the Zanpakuto Unknown Tales arc as one of the manifestations created by Muramasa. He is a generic, monstrous entity classified as a "Sword Beast," formed from a Zanpakuto spirit that lost control after its owner was killed. He is characterized by the large, blade-like boomerang fused to his back.

He encounters Rangiku Matsumoto in the forests of the Soul Society while causing destruction. Relying on brute strength and ranged attacks, he detaches the massive weapon from his back to hurl it at high speeds, cutting through trees and rocks to pin Rangiku down. His fighting style is mindless and aggressive, lacking the strategy of a true shinigami.

Rangiku eventually exploits the beast's predictable attack pattern. When he throws his boomerang for a final strike, she uses Haineko to create a cloud of ash, jamming the weapon's return path. With the beast disarmed and confused, Rangiku closes the distance and destroys him, causing his body to disintegrate into spiritual particles.
