Jidanbou is the gatekeeper of the west gate (Hakutoumon), to the court of pure souls, uses twin axes in battle and is apparently quite strong. He, unfortunately lacks emotional stability, falling to pieces after Ichigo breaks them. He was taught the rules of Rukongai by Kaien Shiba. He is the elder brother of former 7th Division 4th seat Jirōbō Ikkanzaka.
