Recca lives at the church in the remote village of Hage, where she is raised by Father Orsi and Sister Lily. As one of the younger orphans, she grows up alongside Asta and Yuno, viewing them as older brothers. She possesses Water Magic, which she uses for simple daily chores like watering the garden or helping with laundry around the church.

Her peaceful life is interrupted during the Elf Reincarnation arc when a possessed Magic Knight attacks Hage Village. Recca and the other children are cornered by the elf's poison plant magic. Despite being terrified, she stays close to her siblings until Asta arrives with his new sword, the Demon-Destroyer, to negate the poison and save the village.

In the final arc, Recca faces tragedy right at her doorstep when Ryuzen Seven member Lucius Zogratis arrives. She watches in horror as Sister Lily is transformed into a Paladin and turns against them. Though she is powerless to stop the battle, Recca survives the encounter, remaining at the church to support Father Orsi and the other injured orphans.
