One of Ichigo Kurosaki’s classmates at Karakura High School and is a first year track & field star. As Kon learned the hard way, she can run 100 meters in 12 seconds. Ryou also loves to read and is very bright, and is always found with a book. She envies Orihime Inoue and works hard in order to surpass her. Ryō ranks second in her grade on the school exams at Karakura High School. Ryō excels in both literal and martial arts. Chizuru also mentions that Ryo was the representative for the freshman class, which is why she’s never lectured by Karakura High’s faculty.

She is somewhat cold and snobby, showing no concern over Uryuu Ishida’s wounds after his fight with a Menos Grande, saying (to herself) she’d prefer to walk alone rather than with Michiru and Chizuru, stepping on Kon, calling him “a filthy stuffed animal”, and almost never makes eye-contact even when talking with others. Ryou hardly ever smiles and has only been shown doing so twice.
