Naruto All Tailed Beasts and Their Jinchūriki (Updated 2026)

Shukaku, the One-Tail, is a sand-based tailed beast known for its violent and unstable personality. After being created from the Ten-Tails by Hagoromo, it was later captured by the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju, and distributed to the Hidden Sand Village. Its first known jinchūriki was Bunpuku, a monk who formed a rare peaceful bond with it. Years later, the Sand Village sealed Shukaku into Gaara to use him as a weapon, but the process left Gaara mentally unstable due to isolation. During the Akatsuki era, Shukaku was extracted after Gaara was defeated. After the Fourth Great Ninja War, it was freed and now lives independently in the Boruto era.

Matatabi, the Two-Tails, is a blue-flamed feline known for its speed and fire-based abilities. It was sealed within Yugito Nii of the Hidden Cloud Village, who had strong control over its power and could transform into its full form during battle. Yugito was later captured and killed by the Akatsuki, leading to Matatabi’s extraction. After the Fourth Great Ninja War, Matatabi was freed along with the other tailed beasts. In the Boruto era, it has no jinchūriki and lives independently, choosing to stay away from human conflicts while retaining its intelligence and awareness.

Isobu, the Three-Tails, is a turtle-like tailed beast known for its defensive strength and water-based abilities. One of its earliest known hosts was Rin Nohara, who had it forcibly sealed inside her as part of a hidden plan, though she died shortly after. Later, Isobu was sealed into Yagura, the Fourth Mizukage of the Hidden Mist, who had full control over it. After Yagura’s death, Isobu existed freely for a time until it was captured by the Akatsuki. Following the Fourth Great Ninja War, it was released again and now lives without a jinchūriki in the Boruto era.

Son Gokū, the Four-Tails, is a powerful ape-like tailed beast that uses Lava Release, combining fire and earth-based attacks. It was sealed inside Rōshi from the Hidden Stone Village, who trained to use its abilities effectively but never gained full cooperation. Rōshi was eventually defeated by the Akatsuki, leading to Son Gokū’s extraction. Despite its strength, the beast showed a strong personality and even respected Naruto during the war. After being freed following the Fourth Great Ninja War, Son Gokū now lives independently and has no current jinchūriki.

Kokuō, the Five-Tails, is a unique tailed beast with a horse and dolphin-like appearance, known for its immense physical strength and Steam Release abilities. It was sealed within Han of the Hidden Stone Village, a powerful shinobi who used its chakra to enhance his combat skills. Han maintained control but remained distant from the beast itself. Like many jinchūriki, he was eventually defeated by the Akatsuki, leading to Kokuō’s extraction. After the Fourth Great Ninja War, Kokuō was freed along with the other tailed beasts and now exists independently without a host in the Boruto era.

Saiken, the Six-Tails, is a large slug-like tailed beast known for its corrosive abilities and bubble-based techniques. It was sealed inside Utakata from the Hidden Mist Village, who used a unique fighting style involving soap bubbles infused with chakra. Utakata lived as a rogue ninja and maintained partial control over Saiken but was eventually captured and killed by the Akatsuki. After the Fourth Great Ninja War, Saiken was released along with the other tailed beasts. In the Boruto era, it has no jinchūriki and lives freely.

Chōmei, the Seven-Tails, is an insect-like tailed beast resembling a rhinoceros beetle with wings, making it the only one capable of true flight. It was sealed inside Fū from the Hidden Waterfall Village, a cheerful and energetic jinchūriki who had a good level of control over its power. Despite her strength, Fū was eventually captured and killed by the Akatsuki, leading to Chōmei’s extraction. After the Fourth Great Ninja War, Chōmei was freed along with the other tailed beasts. In the Boruto era, it remains without a jinchūriki and lives independently away from humans.

Gyūki, the Eight-Tails, is a massive beast with an octopus lower body and bull-like upper body, known for its immense strength and control over chakra. It is one of the few tailed beasts to have a perfect partnership with its jinchūriki, Killer B from the Hidden Cloud Village. Unlike most hosts, Killer B earned Gyūki’s trust, allowing them to fight in complete sync. During the Fourth Great Ninja War, their bond played a crucial role. In the Boruto era, Killer B is still alive and remains the current jinchūriki of Gyūki, maintaining their strong connection.

Kurama, the Nine-Tails, is the strongest of the tailed beasts and possesses immense chakra and destructive power. Its first stable jinchūriki was Mito Uzumaki, followed by Kushina Uzumaki, and later Naruto Uzumaki. Over time, Naruto formed a deep bond with Kurama, turning it from a feared entity into an ally. During the fight against Isshiki, Naruto used Baryon Mode, which led to Kurama’s death. However, as a chakra being, Kurama eventually reformed and was later revealed to exist inside Himawari Uzumaki. In the current Boruto timeline, Himawari is the new jinchūriki of the Nine-Tails.

The Ten-Tails, or Jūbi, is the original source of all tailed beasts and far more dangerous than any of them. It was first sealed by Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, who became its jinchūriki and later split its chakra into the nine tailed beasts. During the Fourth Great Ninja War, the Ten-Tails was revived and became the power behind Obito and later Madara, eventually transforming into Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. In the Boruto era, a separate Ten-Tails exists under Isshiki’s control, evolving into Divine Tree beings. Unlike other beasts, the Ten-Tails currently has no true jinchūriki and exists as an evolving threat.
