Daddy Masterson, also known as "Daddy the Father," is a bounty hunter who appears exclusively in the Loguetown arc of the anime (and the novel adaptation). He is a former Marine Ensign known for his expert marksmanship. He left the Marines to care for his daughter, Carol, and now makes a living capturing pirates to buy her expensive gifts.

He encounters Usopp in Loguetown after Carol wins a pair of goggles that Usopp wanted. Recognizing Usopp as the son of Yasopp, a pirate he once dueled and lost to, Daddy challenges the young sniper to a duel. He tests Usopp's courage, threatening to kill him if he loses, pushing Usopp to overcome his cowardice.

The duel concludes when Usopp successfully hits a difficult target—the weather vane on a distant tower—using his slingshot. Impressed by Usopp's skill and spirit, which reminds him of Yasopp, Daddy acknowledges the boy's growth. He lets Usopp keep the goggles and encourages him to continue his journey to the Grand Line, parting ways with him on respectful terms.
