His actual face has never been fully shown on-page — what little is visible reveals white hair, with the rest left deliberately obscured.
He carries himself with a cold, businesslike confidence, openly certain he could handle a threat like an incoming meteor without help, and shows little visible concern for civilian casualties during major crises — a colder, more detached approach to hero work than most of his S-Class peers.
Dr. Bofoi is an elderly man with a deeply wrinkled face, a large nose, and prominent, uneven buck teeth, with messy balding white hair that grows in tufts. He’s almost always seen in a standard white lab coat over a dark shirt and tie.
Metal Knight (Robotic Units)
His hero persona operates entirely through robotic avatars — a large, silver-metallic humanoid combat unit with four massive gun barrels on its back and a circular, three-holed camera lens for a face, plus assorted multi-limbed salvage drones and transport vehicles for recovering technology.
Bofoi’s actual body is rarely seen; he interacts with the world almost exclusively through these machines.
Clinical, reclusive, and calculating, Bofoi has little regard for human life when it gets in the way of his data-gathering — he’s told civilians to clear out of a "serious weapons test" without a second thought. He’s driven by the pursuit of superior technology and a genuine belief that overwhelming military power is the only real path to global security.
His preparatory intelligence and vast resources let him handle threats without ever putting himself in physical danger. But his paranoia and extreme secrecy make him impossible to fully trust, and his sensors can’t quantify the kind of "unfathomable" strength someone like Saitama has, which leaves him blind to what he can’t measure. He believes those who trust others are the first to die, and that the Hero Association itself is a "house of cards" doomed to collapse.
Dr. Bofoi was instrumental in founding the Hero Association, using his personal wealth and technical expertise to design its registry and headquarters. About a year before the story begins, he mentored a young Child Emperor as his lab assistant before the boy became an S-Class hero in his own right. After the alien invasion, Bofoi single-handedly rebuilt the ruined City A into an "impregnable fortress" within days, using salvaged extraterrestrial technology.
The Giant Meteor
Bofoi deployed a Metal Knight unit to City Z to test a new missile system against an incoming meteor. The missiles failed to stop it, and Bofoi refused to coordinate with Genos to help save the city, treating the whole event as data collection.
Alien Invasion
After the Dark Matter Thieves were defeated, he moved in to salvage their spacecraft, brushing off criticism from heroes like Tatsumaki and Amai Mask and focusing purely on the technology’s value.
Elder Centipede
He intercepted Elder Centipede during its rampage, striking its face and clinging to its carapace to gather biological samples, ultimately declaring the monster a "valuable specimen" for future weapons research.
Monster Association Refusal
Bofoi flatly refused to join the tactical raid on the Monster Association, arguing the Association should prioritize long-term survival over a "risky" rescue mission — a decision that further isolated him from the rest of the S-Class.
HQ Defense Breach
