Ground Dragon

グランド ドラゴン

Supporting One Punch Man

Ground Dragon is an artificial mutant created by Dr. Genus of the House of Evolution — despite the name, he's actually a giant mole, marked with a white kanji pattern on his fur that literally spells out "mole" when read together, with oversized claws as his only other distinguishing feature.

Sent alongside Beast King to capture Saitama, Ground Dragon tries to avoid a direct confrontation by burying Saitama underground rather than fighting him outright — a plan that fails instantly when Saitama simply digs his way back out. Once Saitama kills the far stronger Beast King with no visible effort, Ground Dragon's earlier calm and confidence collapse into open cowardice; he tries to flee underground, but Saitama catches up and punches him into the sky, killing him instantly.

A large, muscular humanoid with the traits of a mole — dark black fur, massive white curved excavation claws on hands and feet, a pink porcine snout, and small eyes suited to darkness. A patch of white fur marks his chest and stomach; his name’s kanji is stylistically displayed on his torso.

Confident and task-oriented, taking real pride in immobilizing targets for his superiors, and professional enough to coordinate cleanly with Beast King. Unlike the more bellicose Beast King, he shows a strong self-preservation instinct — he tries to flee the instant he sees Beast King fall.

An artificially evolved House of Evolution creation with no biological family, treating fellow lab-made mutants as his only kin. Served as an elite combatant for the organization before the mission to capture Saitama.

Part of the five-hero-hunting team sent after Saitama; tunnels beneath him during the confrontation and pulls him into the ground up to his neck, declaring the mission a success. When Beast King is instantly destroyed by Saitama, Ground Dragon immediately tries to flee underground — but Saitama punches straight into the tunnel and kills him anyway.

High-speed tunneling through solid earth and concrete via reinforced claws, able to create instant pitfall traps and sense surface movement from underground. Strength well above human norms, though ranked below Beast King — and, as it turns out, no durability advantage against Saitama even buried several feet down.

Ground Dragon & Beast King vs. Saitama — Ch. 8

Ambushed Saitama from underground and buried him to the neck while Beast King moved in to finish him. Once Beast King fell, Ground Dragon tried to tunnel away — Saitama caught him mid-escape. His death was the final sign Dr. Genus needed to reconsider his whole approach to evolution.

Major: Ch. 8. Mentioned only: Ch. 9, 234.

Dr. Genus: his creator and master. Beast King: his direct superior on the strike team. Armored Gorilla: a fellow elite teammate. Saitama: his target, and killer.

“He can’t move his hands or feet!” — while trapping Saitama

His Japanese name is literally written with the kanji for “Ground” and “Dragon” — the standard way to write “mole” in Japanese. Unlike Mosquito Girl and Armored Gorilla, he did not survive to appear in later, more peaceful House of Evolution scenes.
