Sora was the matriarch of the Vinsmoke Family in the North Blue’s Germa Kingdom. After the birth of her first daughter, Reiju, she learned of Judge’s plan to biologically engineer their future children into emotionless "ultimate soldiers," and fiercely opposed it while pregnant with quadruplets. When her protests went nowhere, she took a powerful drug meant to block the genetic modifications. It preserved the emotions of only one child, Sanji, but severely damaged her own body and led to her terminal illness.

Judge later credits Sora’s resistance to the bloodline element manipulation as the reason Sanji is a "regular human," without an exoskeleton or superhuman strength.
