Wapol

Normal Appearance

Wapol is large and stout, with a distinctive tin jaw behind his "Tin Tyrant" epithet. He wears heavy fur coats — most notably a white hide from his mount, the "Hiking Bear" Robson — over a dark jumpsuit, along with a crown and small pointed beard.

Slim-Down Form

Using his Devil Fruit, he can trigger a "Miraculous Physique Restoration Technique" (the "Wapol Slim-Down"), eating his own body fat to become a tall, lanky, more agile version of himself.

Evil Black Drum Era

After his rise as King of Evil Black Drum, his wardrobe became noticeably more opulent, matching his new status as a wealthy conglomerate chairman.

Wapol is gluttonous, selfish, and essentially without empathy, treating his subjects' lives as tools for his own amusement or survival because he considers a king's word absolute law. He's also a coward — when the Blackbeard Pirates attacked Drum Kingdom with just five men, he abandoned his people immediately and fled to become a pirate rather than defend his crown. He's arrogant enough to mock the dreams and suffering of people like Dr. Hiriluk and Tony Tony Chopper, but he's also fairly buffoonish, regularly falling for simple tricks and his own lack of foresight.

Wapol inherited the Drum Kingdom throne from his father, a far more responsible ruler than he turned out to be. As a boy at a past Levely, King Nefeltari Cobra scolded him for his selfish attitude, and Wapol struck young Princess Vivi in retaliation, sparking an international incident that Vivi herself defused with an apology. Once crowned, he launched the "Doctor Hunt," driving every doctor except his personal "Doctor 20" into hiding or exile.

Drum Island Arc

Wapol first ran into the Straw Hats at sea and tried to eat their ship, the Going Merry, only to get sent flying by Luffy. He returned to Drum Island to reclaim his throne from the interim leader Dalton, fighting Luffy, Sanji, and Chopper at the Royal Drum Castle; his "Bre King Royal Drum Crown VII Cannon" jammed because a pair of snowbirds had nested in the barrels, and Luffy finished him off with a Gomu Gomu no Bazooka that blew him off the island.

Rebuilding as a Businessman

Left homeless, Wapol survived by eating trash under a bridge, discovered his trash-derived toys — made from a new alloy he called Wapometal — sold well, and built "Wapol Konzern" into a fortune. He married Kinderella and used his wealth to convince the World Government to grant him a new kingdom, the Evil Black Drum Kingdom.

The Levely and Imu

At the recent Levely, he tried to taunt Vivi and Dalton, but instead witnessed the "forbidden" disappearance of King Nefeltari Cobra and caught sight of Imu. Terrified, he fled Marijoa and is currently hiding aboard the World Economic Journal's mobile headquarters under Big News Morgans's protection.

Baku Baku no Mi

Wapol's Devil Fruit lets him eat literally anything — wood, metal, people — and manifest what he's eaten as biological or mechanical augmentations, like turning his arms into cannons.

Munch-Munch Synthesis

This technique can fuse two or more things together, which he used to merge his subordinates Chess and Kuromarimo into the four-armed Chessmarimo.

Self-Modification

He can also eat parts of himself to change his own body composition, as in his fat-burning "slim-down" form, and his body produces Wapometal, a shape-memory alloy that became a major industrial material.

vs. Blackbeard Pirates

A one-sided non-fight — Wapol simply fled his kingdom.

Tin Tyrant Pirates vs. Straw Hat Pirates (Sea Battle)

He tried to eat the Going Merry and got knocked into the ocean by Luffy.

Wapol & Chessmarimo vs. Luffy & Chopper

A battle for Drum Castle where his mechanical forms and the castle's ultimate cannon both failed him, ending with Luffy blasting him off the island.

Wapol vs. World Government (Espionage)

He witnessed a secret at the Levely and is now a fugitive hiding with the World Economic Journal.

His name puns on the Japanese waru (bad/evil), fitting his "King of Evil" title. He's the only character in the series whose cover story chronicles the founding of a global industrial conglomerate. His Devil Fruit also lets him sidestep normal physics — he can eat an entire house and effectively become it.
