Yamato is the daughter of the Yonko Kaido, though she identifies as Kozuki Oden after witnessing his legendary execution. She possesses the Mythical Zoan Fruit, the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Okuchi no Makami, allowing her to transform into a divine wolf deity. For twenty years, she was imprisoned on Onigashima by her father, shackled with explosive cuffs to prevent her escape.

During the raid on Onigashima, Yamato meets Luffy and immediately aligns herself with the alliance. She fights fiercely to protect Momonosuke, using her club and ice-based abilities to hold off the Beasts Pirates' heavy hitters. She eventually faces Kaido alone on the rooftop, engaging him in a brutal one-on-one duel to stall him until Luffy recovers.

After Kaido's defeat, Yamato announces her intention to join the Straw Hat Pirates but ultimately decides to stay in Wano. She chooses to tour the country first, following in Oden’s footsteps to learn about the land she intends to protect. She bids a heartfelt farewell to Luffy, promising to meet him again at sea once her journey is complete.
