Yasopp

Yasopp has a lean, athletic build and curly hair that was brownish-blond and short in his early years, growing into long dreadlocks after the two-year timeskip. He's almost never seen without a headband reading "YASOPP," and he typically wears a star-patterned cape over simple trousers and boots, with an anchor tattoo on his right arm. His weapon of choice is a large flintlock rifle.

Yasopp takes enormous pride in being a pirate and in his skill as a marksman. He once told a young Luffy that he left home because "the pirate flag kept calling" him — framing it as ambition, not as a lack of love for the family he left behind. Around his crewmates he's boisterous and jovial, always ready to drink and laugh, but he turns sharply disciplined and focused in a real fight, as he showed at the Paramount War. He clearly adores Usopp and boasted about him constantly during his year in Windmill Village, even while choosing the sea over staying home to raise him.

Yasopp grew up in Syrup Village in the East Blue. About twenty-two years before the present story, a young Shanks sailed there specifically to recruit him, having heard of his talent with a rifle, and Yasopp joined on the spot, leaving behind his wife Banchina and their young son Usopp. Around twelve years ago, the crew spent a year based out of Windmill Village, where Yasopp befriended a young Luffy and told him stories about his marksmanship and his son back home — stories that helped shape how Luffy came to see the pirate life.

East Blue Adventures

Yasopp took part in the East Blue adventures of Shanks's crew during that era, including the incident where they stole the Gomu Gomu no Mi from a government ship.

The Paramount War

Years later, at the Paramount War, he sailed into Marineford with the Red-Haired Pirates to help end the fighting between the Navy and the Whitebeard Pirates, standing ready to face the Blackbeard Pirates and staring down their sniper, Van Augur.

Passing Wano

After Kaido's defeat, the crew passed through the waters near Wano, and while everyone else celebrated Luffy's rise, Yasopp admitted he wasn't ready to finally meet his son face to face.

Elbaph

More recently, near Elbaph, he was part of the Red-Haired Pirates' response when Eustass Kid attacked their territory — he watched from the Red Force as Shanks unleashed the devastating "Divine Departure" attack that wiped out the Kid Pirates entirely.

Marksmanship & Haki

Yasopp is arguably the best sniper alive, with a reputation for never missing — he's claimed he can "shoot the whiskers off an ant at 50 paces." As a senior officer serving an Emperor, he's a skilled Haki user, specializing in Color of Observation Haki to track targets over huge distances, and he carries the stamina and tactical sense needed to hold his own in what the Navy considers the best-balanced crew among the Emperors.

The crew brushed aside a band of mountain bandits threatening Luffy without much effort, establishing just how outmatched ordinary threats were against them.

The Confrontation at Marineford — Ch. 580

Yasopp and the crew's stand against the Navy and the Blackbeard Pirates helped force the ceasefire that ended the Paramount War.

Red-Haired Pirates vs. The Kid Pirates — Ch. 1079

The crew annihilated Eustass Kid's fleet near Elbaph, a one-sided fight that showed the gap between the New Generation and the established Emperors.
