Lola is a Wild Zombie built by Dr. Hogback on Thriller Bark, carrying the shadow of Charlotte Lola - the twenty-third daughter of Big Mom - and with it, that shadow's desperate, single-minded hunger for a husband. Under Ghost Princess Perona's command in the Wild Zombie squad, she spent her existence chasing Absalom around the mansion with a marriage certificate. But when she learned Absalom meant to force Nami into marrying him against her will, Lola turned on her own commander to protect her.
Lola is a large, bipedal warthog zombie dressed, fittingly, like a bride gone wrong. She's heavyset with light-colored fur, curved tusks jutting from her lower jaw, thick lips, and small, deep-set eyes. Her tattered, off-white wedding gown and lace veil never come off, and like every Thriller Bark zombie, her body carries the large surgical stitches - mostly at the neck and limbs - where Hogback sewed different animal parts together to build her.
Underneath the intimidating exterior, Lola is sentimental and fiercely loyal once she trusts someone. She initially treats Nami - disguised as a man named "Namizo" - as a dangerous rival for Absalom's attention, but the moment she believes "Namizo" is on her side, she becomes a devoted protector, brave enough to stand up to her own superior to keep her new friend safe.
Lola's shadow originally belonged to Charlotte Lola, who fled the New World to escape a political marriage to Prince Loki of Elbaph and ended up lost in the Florian Triangle. Gecko Moria captured her shadow with the Shadow-Shadow Fruit and stitched it into a warthog corpse Hogback had prepared, giving the resulting zombie an identification number in the 0-199 range and a post in the mansion's gardens. For years afterward, she stayed on the island proposing to any man she could corner, especially Absalom.
Thriller Bark Arc
Lola spends the start of the Thriller Bark Arc chasing Absalom through the mansion with a marriage certificate, oblivious to the chaos the Straw Hats are causing elsewhere. During the Night Hunt she ambushes Nami, certain the newcomer is competition for Absalom - until Nami convinces her she's actually a man named "Namizo" who wants to help Lola get married. Once Lola realizes Absalom means to force Nami into that marriage instead, she fights him directly, buying Nami time to escape and holding off the other zombies.
Shadow Extraction and Aftermath
When Gecko Moria later activates "Shadows Asgard" and rips the shadows out of every zombie on the island to power himself up, Lola tries to call her own shadow back and resist - but she's purified anyway. After Moria's defeat, the shadow returns to the real Charlotte Lola, who greets the Straw Hats personally and hands Nami a Vivre Card belonging to her mother - a gift that eventually leads the crew to the Totto Land archipelago.
