Adele works as a dancer and server at the Mermaid Cafe on Fish-Man Island, operating alongside her four identical sisters. She possesses a dark tail and dark hair styled in braids, spending much of her time swimming in the residential cove. She approaches human visitors with curiosity rather than fear, welcoming them to the underwater district before political unrest disrupts the island.

She plays a central role in the medical crisis involving the visiting blonde pirate cook. When she and her sisters physically embrace him in the water, the interaction causes him to suffer a catastrophic nosebleed due to overstimulation. This incident critically endangers his life, forcing his crew to frantically search for a rare blood donor to prevent him from dying of blood loss.

She later falls victim to the intruder Caribou, who infiltrates the mermaid cove to abduct women for the surface slave trade. The criminal captures her by absorbing her into his mud-like body, trapping her inside himself until the pirate captain intervenes. She is ejected from her captor after his defeat, allowing her to escape safely back to her workplace.
