Moda is a young milkmaid from the Lulusia Kingdom in the Grand Line. Longtime fans first met her in a cover story titled "Ace's Great Blackbeard Search," where she saved a drowning Portgas D. Ace. In return for her kindness, Ace delivered a letter for her to the G-2 Marine Base, which happily resulted in her parents—who were working as Navy cooks—returning home to live with her.

During the events surrounding the Levely, When the Peachbeard Pirates took advantage of the kingdom's lack of defenses to attack her village, Moda was initially helpless. However, after the arrival of the Revolutionary Army commanders, she was empowered by Belo Betty's Kobu Kobu no Mi. Overcoming her fear, she took up a stick and helped the villagers drive the pirates away, proving her courage in defense of her home.

Moda faced a catastrophic tragedy when the Lulusia Kingdom was targeted for erasure by Imu using the Mother Flame weapon. In a stroke of luck, she was among the citizens Sabo managed to evacuate onto a ship just moments before the island was annihilated. Having lost her homeland, she is currently a refugee living in the Kamabakka Queendom under the protection of the Revolutionary Army.
