The Bearded Worker, canonically named Busho, is a Hero Association staff member who oversees field operations and relays intelligence to heroes in the middle of a crisis. He's tall, with short black hair, brown eyes, and a stubbled beard, dressed in a standard black suit, white shirt, and gray tie.
Serious and conscientious about his work, he's shown personally investigating the aftermath of the House of Evolution's destroyed headquarters, and later confirms in a staff meeting that Genos is registered to take the Hero Association's entrance exam.
A tall man with a professional, somewhat weary look, short neatly groomed black hair, and dark brown eyes. His namesake trait is a dark five-o’clock-shadow stubble along his jawline. Wears the standard Association official’s black suit, white shirt, and dark tie.
Serious, methodical, and data-driven. Observant and skeptical — his instinct is to distrust anything that doesn’t match documented records, which made him an early doubter of Saitama’s legitimacy. Genuinely loyal to the Association’s mission, prioritizing objective investigation over hype or public image.
Rose through the Association’s administrative ranks as a reliable field investigator, notably inspecting the wreckage left by the House of Evolution. Became a trusted advisor to top executives like Sitch and Sekingar by the time of the Monster Association crisis.
Personally investigates the ruined House of Evolution HQ, and later processes Saitama and Genos’s hero exam, confirming Genos scored a perfect result. Monitors terrorist Hammerhead’s movements in City F, and later reviews Saitama’s baffling test scores before making the call to dispatch him to City J against the Seafolk anyway. During the Monster Association raid, digs into Genos’s background with Child Emperor (discovering his birthplace no longer exists on any map) and helps Sekingar organize the Surface Support Team. Later takes part in emergency meetings over the mass hero exodus to the Neo Heroes.
No combat ability — his strength is administrative: large-scale hero deployment coordination, deep-access data analysis of the Hero Registry, and condensing complex disaster intel into usable briefings for S-Class heroes and executives.
Professional Standards
Constantly wrestling with the Association's ego-driven culture, including reconciling Saitama's impossible test scores with his total lack of public reputation. Eventually conceded Saitama was “worth testing” in the field — the call that got Saitama his first real shot.
Major: Ch. 11, 15, 19, 24, 93, 94, 95. Minor: Ch. 20, 31, 186, 188, 189, 201. Mentioned only: Ch. 38, 117.
Sitch: his immediate superior, frequently briefed on disaster status. Sekingar: a high-ranking peer he collaborates closely with. Child Emperor: a tactical partner he trades classified intel with. Saitama: viewed with cautious intrigue as one of the first to suspect he was hiding real strength. Genos: a subject of his ongoing background investigation.
“But he doesn’t have a background in martial arts or sports. He’s largely unknown and thought to be a fraud.” — on Saitama
“I actually... did some digging on Demon Cyborg. His birth-place is no longer on the map. Doesn’t that sound suspicious?” — to Child Emperor
Long known to fans simply as "Bearded Worker" before his official name, Busho, was confirmed in databooks. Frequently drawn with dark under-eye circles, underlining the sheer workload of Association administration during the monster surge.
