Lightning Max

イナズマックス

Supporting One Punch Man

Lightning Max is an A-Class hero with blond hair slicked upward, a lightning-bolt sticker on his cheek, and a black spandex tracksuit with yellow lines paired with weaponized sneakers built for speed. Unlike many of his more reckless peers, he prefers to scout and study an opponent from a distance before committing to a fight, favoring strategy over brute force — though he's shown real doubt about whether his abilities are actually good enough.

He arrives at A-City alongside Smile Man to fight Vaccine Man, and later heads to Z-City to investigate a rumored monster after it defeats fellow heroes Golden Ball and Spring Mustachio. A loss to the Deep Sea King pushes him to commit to genuinely improving himself, and by the time he returns to fight the monster Gouketsu, he shows a more selfless side, holding the line to buy time for Suiryu to escape.

A slender but muscular young man with short blond hair swept back, and lightning-bolt-shaped markings on his cheeks. Wears a sleeveless white-and-black martial arts gi and heavy reinforced boots housing his gunpowder propulsion system.

Confident and a bit flashy, true to his name, but backed by real resilience — after being brutally hospitalized, his first instinct on recovery is to enter a tournament and confront his fear head-on. Duty-bound enough to return to a dangerous arena to protect Suiryu, reasoning that he and Snek were “heroes before martial artists.”

Rose to the top 20 of Class A and became a regular fixture patrolling City F. A master of Hyper Karate, a high-speed, explosive-kick-focused style.

Engages the Deep Sea King at a City J shelter and is immediately, brutally defeated. While recovering, he confides in a visiting Saitama that the King’s power was beyond anything he’d comprehended. Enters the 22nd Super Fight tournament to rebuild his confidence, overwhelmingly wins round one against Ring-Ring, then is knocked out of the arena in one kick by Suiryu in round two. When the monster Goketsu attacks the tournament grounds, Max and Snek return to the ring, successfully defeating Goketsu’s "Three Crows" disciples before Goketsu himself sidelines them.

Hyper Karate: extreme-velocity strikes using full body weight. Gunpowder-propelled kicks: his boots trigger internal blasts to double impact force and boost mid-air speed, including his signature Lightning Kick and Double Lightning Kick combo.

vs. Deep Sea King — Ch. 26

Tried to intercept him in City J. Overwhelming defeat — the loss that kicked off Max's whole arc about his own lack of power.

vs. Ring-Ring — Ch. 63

First round of the Super Fight. Won, proving he was still a serious threat next to standard martial artists.

vs. Suiryu — Ch. 64

Second round. Lost, and it showed just how far ahead elite Class A martial artists like Suiryu really were.

vs. The Three Crows — Ch. 75

Teamed up with Snek to protect an injured Suiryu. Won — good proof his hero instincts and teamwork still had teeth.

Major: Ch. 25, 26, 28, 29, 63, 64, 74, 75. Minor: Ch. 32, 38, 114, 186. Mentioned only: Ch. 24, 112.

Snek: his main partner through the Super Fight arc, sharing genuine mutual respect. Suiryu: an early rival who dismissed his “hero play,” later won over by Max risking his life for him. Saitama: one of the few heroes to interact with him personally, in the hospital, without initially grasping his real strength.

“We came back... because we’re heroes!” — to Suiryu
“He swatted me... like I was just a pest...” — on the Deep Sea King

Considered a top-tier athlete with a large fanbase despite his losses to higher-tier threats. His name is a portmanteau of "Inazuma" (lightning) and "Max."
