Tatsumaki, known by her hero alias Tornado of Terror, is the S-Class Rank 2 hero and widely regarded as the single most powerful esper alive. Despite a petite, youthful appearance that regularly gets her mistaken for a child, she is one of the strongest fighters in the Hero Association, relying entirely on psychokinesis to devastate enemies and battlefields alike without ever needing to physically engage them.
Her powers first drew outside attention when she was taken from her adopted family at age seven by the scientific organization Tsukuyomi to be studied, an experience that shaped the guarded, short-tempered person she became. She is bold, outgoing, and mostly relaxed day to day, but reacts to threats against herself or the people she cares about — including her younger sister Fubuki — with immediate, overwhelming force.
She wears a fitted black dress with four high leg slits and low-heeled black shoes, and her curled, shoulder-length hair and wide green eyes contribute to the youthful look that regularly causes enemies to underestimate her — a mistake they rarely get to make twice.
Tatsumaki is a petite young woman with a slender build and a youthful face, despite being 28 years old. She has sharp green eyes and vibrant dark green hair in messy curls that end just above her shoulders — hair that often glows and flickers upward when she pushes her psychic output. She’s frequently mistaken for a child because of her height, which irritates her to no end.
Hero Attire
A form-fitting, high-collared black dress with long sleeves and multiple high slits, paired with black high heels. During intense combat, her body is wrapped in a swirling aura of psychic energy, and she refuses to have torn clothing repaired until the job is finished.
Arrogant, hot-headed, impatient, and fiercely independent, Tatsumaki carries something close to a god complex about her own abilities and isn’t shy about belittling opponents and allies alike. What actually drives her is duty — and an obsessive need to keep her sister Fubuki isolated from danger.
Her willpower is nearly unbreakable; she can shrug off mental manipulation and keep fighting even as her body starts to give out. Her flaw is the same as her strength: total refusal to cooperate with anyone, which tends to cause collateral damage or push away people who could actually help, and traces of the paranoia she picked up as a childhood test subject. She believes a hero has to set an example by never leaning on anyone else — because to her, trusting people eventually leads to betrayal or weakness.
Tatsumaki was raised in a clinical research facility that treated her as a test subject for her psychic potential, spending much of her childhood locked in a cell and put through brutal experiments. She was eventually pulled out of that facility by the Rank 1 hero Blast, who told her she had to be the one protecting her family and warned her never to expect anyone else to come save her. She climbed to S-Class Rank 2 and became the primary architect of the Association’s combat strategy.
Alien Invasion
Tatsumaki single-handedly stopped a massive shell volley from the alien spacecraft over City A and redirected it back at the ship, doing serious damage on her own.
Monster Association War
She infiltrated the base and effortlessly beat down the strategist Gyoro-Gyoro, realizing partway through it was just a meat-puppet for the real esper, Psykos. When Psykos fused with the Monster King Orochi, Tatsumaki went all-out — throwing up a country-sized barrier to protect the surface while simultaneously pulling heroes out of the collapsing underground base, then twisting the entire city of Z to pulverize what was left of Orochi and neutralize Psykos with Genos’s aerial support.
The Tsukuyomi Incident
She intercepted psychic spies from the shadowy organization Tsukuyomi who were trying to grab Psykos, compressing one of their agents into a rock sphere without hesitation. When Saitama grabbed her hand to stop her from hurting Fubuki’s group, the two ended up in a city-spanning test of strength — she threw skyscrapers and boulders at him, couldn’t so much as scratch him, and walked away exhausted with the grudging realization that he was "tough."
Neo Heroes Era
She’s refused to appear in Association recruitment ads, and was openly furious when an AI-generated "adorable" version of herself showed up on air without her consent.
Supreme Psychokinesis
Her core ability — manipulating matter down to the molecular level, letting her lift entire city blocks, redirect massive projectiles, and reshape the Earth’s crust.
Psychic Binding
Compressing or immobilizing a target with crushing psychic pressure.
Psychic Whirlwind
A rotating psychic field that disperses incoming attacks or shreds enemies caught in it.
Reinforced Double Barrier
A massive, multi-layered shield built to be impenetrable from either direction.
Psychic Sensing
She can detect psychic signatures and bio-signs from miles away.
Her raw psychic output also functions as a passive barrier, making her extremely difficult to injure — though she becomes vulnerable once that energy runs out.
vs. Alien Spacecraft — Ch. 31–36
Redirected hundreds of shells launched from the Dark Matter Thieves' ship right back at it, tearing it apart — establishing her as the Association's primary anti-aircraft defense.
vs. Psykos-Orochi — Ch. 134–140
Went up against a being fused together and powered by "God" himself, throwing 100% of her power into twisting the entire base and city apart. The fusion didn't survive it — her single most powerful display of psychic output in the series.
vs. Saitama — Ch. 177–181
Tested his durability by dragging him across multiple cities and hurling debris at him. He didn't so much as flinch, and she ran completely out of power — the first time since Blast that she'd met someone she genuinely couldn't move or hurt.
Conflict with Hero Association Executives — Ongoing
Ignores orders, skips PR stunts, doesn't apologize for either. The Association needs her power too much to push back — a tense standoff that never really resolves.
Major: Ch. 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 113, 126, 128, 134, 135, 136, 137, 138, 139, 140, 144, 145, 171, 172, 175, 176, 178, 179, 180, 181, 193.

Mentioned only: Ch. 24, 29, 30, 65, 82, 102, 103, 107, 109, 110, 120, 138, 153, 154, 155, 162, 163, 166, 178, 232, 244, 245, 248, 265, 287, 308.
Fubuki
Her younger sister, and the center of Tatsumaki’s whole worldview. She believes trusting others is a fatal weakness and constantly pushes Fubuki to cut ties with her "riffraff" allies to keep her safe — a habit rooted in the trauma they share from the research facility. She eventually admitted, in a rare soft moment, that Fubuki had "gotten stronger."
Saitama
Curiosity mixed with frustration — he’s the only person who’s ever taken her full power and walked away without a scratch. She started out calling him an "insect" and a "doofus" and ended their duel admitting he was "actually kind of tough."
Blast
Her savior and the source of the philosophy she’s built her whole life around — his words to her as a child are the reason she refuses to ever ask for help.
Genos
She calls him an "annoying piece of junk," but cooperated with him anyway during the fight against Psykos-Orochi, trusting him for aerial cover while she committed everything to her own attack.
Psykos
Her main psychic rival, whom she considers a "pitiful guinea pig" rather than a real threat.
The Hero Association
She’s their single most valuable asset, and she knows it — which is exactly why she doesn’t bother pretending the organization impresses her.
“You’re all hopeless without me! It takes this long to beat one small fry?”
“I would have been fine alone! A Class B hero shouldn’t overstep his bounds!” — to Saitama
“I must set an example.”
“I have no intention of becoming your friend!” — to Saitama
She’s often mistaken for a child, but she’s officially 28 — five years older than Saitama. Her hair and aura are regularly compared to a raging tornado, matching her hero name. She’s remained S-Class Rank 2 since her introduction, mostly because Rank 1 (Blast) is almost never active enough to threaten the spot.
