Mary Kenwood, working under the alias “Wedy,” is the world-class cat burglar L recruits to break into the Yotsuba executives’ homes and offices — the illegal groundwork that gives the Task Force the evidence to identify Kyosuke Higuchi. Once L is gone, Light quietly eliminates her along with the rest of his old support network to make sure nothing ties back to him.
A tall, slender Western woman with long blonde hair and sharp features, almost never seen without dark designer sunglasses, day or night. Dresses in tight black leather, built for mobility on her motorcycle and stealth on a job.
Composed and entirely professional — she treats the Kira case as a high-stakes job rather than a moral crusade, staying calm and focused during break-ins that L and Light monitor remotely. Concise and technically minded in how she reports back, she shows real professional loyalty to L despite working purely for a fee.
Recruited by L in 2004 alongside the conman Aiber (Tierry Morello), Kenwood’s job is bypassing the Yotsuba Eight’s security. She breaks into five of the executives’ homes, including a specialized electronics-blocking room Higuchi had built that takes her two days to crack, planting the cameras and microphones that let the Task Force witness the Yotsuba “death meetings” directly. During the operation to capture Higuchi, she tails him by motorcycle, feeding L real-time location data critical to the police blockade. On January 10, 2005, after L’s death and Light’s takeover, Kenwood dies in a motorcycle accident in Colorado — one of the loose ends Light quietly erases.
