Tierry Morello, working the Yotsuba case under the alias “Aiber,” is the world-class conman L brings in to pose as the physical face of Eraldo Coil — L’s detective alias — and talk his way into the trust of the Yotsuba Eight. His negotiation with Reiji Namikawa is what helps isolate Kyosuke Higuchi as the Third Kira, but like the rest of L’s outside operatives, he becomes a loose end Light quietly erases once L is gone.
A tall, sophisticated Western man with short light hair, sharp angular features, and a charismatic presence — often seen with a cigarette. Dresses in a signature dark pinstripe suit with a light dress shirt and dark tie.
Charismatic, adaptable, and professionally detached — a master performer capable of projecting total confidence in front of ruthless corporate executives without a flicker of fear. He works purely for a fee rather than any sense of justice, but shows real loyalty to L, sticking closely to his tactical plans throughout.
Recruited by L in 2004 alongside burglar Mary Kenwood (Wedy), Morello’s job is posing as the physical representative of Eraldo Coil — the detective alias the Yotsuba Eight unknowingly hire to find L, who is L himself. He gains the trust of executive Reiji Namikawa and uses that access to gauge which of the Eight actually holds Kira’s power. Under L’s direction, he negotiates a deal with Namikawa — stop the killings, cooperate, and receive immunity — a pivotal move that isolates Higuchi. Once Higuchi is captured and L is dead, Light eliminates everyone who could tie him to the Yotsuba case; Morello dies of liver cancer in a Paris hospital on April 7, 2005, surrounded by his family.
