Yuri

A teenage girl of average height and a slender build, with shoulder-length straight dark hair and a soft, friendly face. At the amusement park she wears a light-colored jacket and scarf; her usual cheerful expression gives way to real fear and distress once the bus hijacking begins.

Friendly, sociable, and clearly fond of Light. She reacts to danger the way an ordinary civilian would — visibly terrified during the hijacking — and never picks up on the fact that she’s a piece being moved in Light’s game against L.

In late 2003, Light invites Yuri to Space Land to draw out the agent shadowing him. Their bus is hijacked en route by Kiichiro Osoreda, a criminal Light is secretly controlling through the Death Note, and Yuri becomes a hostage without ever realizing the entire crisis is staged. Using her fear and his own manufactured “discovery” of the hijacker’s notes, Light pressures the agent watching them — Raye Penber — into showing his badge to calm the situation, achieving exactly what Light wanted. Yuri survives physically unharmed and never appears again, but the identification gained here directly leads to the deaths of all twelve FBI agents in Japan.
