Daril Ghiroza is a background Shinigami who never bothers coming to Earth, content to watch the human world from a distance while gambling away eternity with her peers. Her ornate, crown-and-jewelry-covered design makes her one of the more visually distinct background Shinigami, but like most of her kind she takes no active role in the story — just another voice among the crowd finding Ryuk and Sidoh’s human attachments strange.
A skeletal, bird-like head with a sharp beak and dark, sunken eyes on a spindly, gaunt frame. Her defining trait is an obsession with human-style valuables — she’s always seen wearing a small metallic crown, along with ornate necklaces, medals, and jewelry instead of conventional clothing.
Apathetic, cynical, and materialistic, passing the centuries through gambling rather than any interest in changing the human world. She follows the Shinigami King’s laws closely, believing Gods of Death shouldn’t get too involved in human affairs beyond extending their own lifespans.
Ghiroza is present when Ryuk first voices his boredom with the realm and departs for Earth with a second notebook, and remains a background presence throughout the following years — watching the Yotsuba and mafia eras unfold, observing Sidoh’s frantic search for his stolen notebook, and continuing on as a detached observer long after Light Yagami’s death, through the brief C-Kira and a-Kira incidents.
