Yoshi is Misa Amane’s original manager at Yoshida Productions, appearing only once in the story — right after L, undercover as Hideki Ryuga, first meets Misa at To-Oh University, Yoshi grabs her by the hand and drags her back to work. Misa is quietly arrested soon after under suspicion of being the Second Kira, and to cover the arrest without causing a panic, Yoshi is arrested alongside her on fabricated drug-possession charges. After Misa’s release, Yoshi never returns to the job, and the Task Force uses the sudden vacancy to place Touta Matsuda in the role under the alias “Taro Matsui,” later succeeded by Kanzo Mogi — giving them ongoing inside access to Misa and, through her, the Yotsuba Group.
Yoshi has dark-brown eyes and long black hair, which she keeps tied back in a high bun. She wears business attire befitting a talent manager, along with a pair of black glasses and red lipstick.
An employee of Yoshida Productions, a Tokyo talent agency, Yoshi manages Misa Amane’s public appearances and schedule as her manager, entirely unaware of Misa’s double life as the Second Kira.
Yoshi’s only appearance comes right after L, undercover as Hideki Ryuga, meets Misa Amane at To-Oh University — Yoshi grabs Misa by the hand and pulls her away, back to work. Soon after, Misa is quietly arrested under suspicion of being the Second Kira. To keep the arrest from causing a public panic and to protect the investigation’s secrecy, Yoshi is arrested at the same time on fabricated drug-possession charges. Once Misa is released, Yoshi does not return to the job. The Task Force uses the sudden vacancy to place Touta Matsuda in the role under the alias “Taro Matsui,” and Kanzo Mogi later succeeds him — giving the Task Force ongoing inside access to Misa and, through her, the Yotsuba Group.
Appearance: Chapter 32, “Gamble” (Episode 15, “Wager,” in the anime) — her only appearance in the story.
Misa Amane
Her client. Yoshi drags Misa back to work moments before Misa’s own secret arrest, and is herself arrested on a fabricated charge to help cover it up.
Touta Matsuda
The Task Force officer who takes over her vacated role under a false identity, using her absence to infiltrate Misa’s life.
Kanzo Mogi
Later succeeds Matsuda as Misa’s manager, continuing the Task Force’s cover.
- Exists to set up the “manager infiltration” subplot: her arrest creates the opening the Task Force uses to place their own man close to Misa and, by extension, the Yotsuba Group.
- In the Death Note TV drama adaptation, Misa’s manager is recast as male and the circumstances of the arrest are changed — likely the source of gender mix-ups in some fan summaries of the character.
